Join a WUFA Committee
Faculty Association (WUFA) Committee reps act on behalf of the membership to deal with a variety of employment and topical issues that affect our membership. Committee members are volunteers from various faculties, departments, units and libraries. These volunteers participate in resolving issues, making recommendations and/or taking action on working conditions, benefit or pension concerns, grievance issues or members’ rights under the Collective Agreement. Meetings of the Faculty Association permanent or ad-hoc committees are normally held at Kerr House (366 Sunset Avenue).

How much time commitment is expected for committee work?
Depending on the Committee, expect to attend at least one meeting a month throughout the academic year. Call the Faculty Association office and ask about the frequency of meetings for the committee that interests you.

How can I apply to become a Committee member?
Each Committee has different application procedures. The best suggestion is to contact the Faculty Association office (ext. 3366) to get particulars about the Committee you are interested in, along with its membership criteria. WUFA can also assist by putting you in touch with the Committee chairperson.

PERMANENT COMMITTEES
The Faculty Association (WUFA) has a variety of permanent Committees, which are established under the Constitution and Bylaws of the Faculty Association. Candidates for the following Committees are elected or appointed from the general membership. These people work hard to help the membership in all areas of employment. The Faculty Association is very grateful for the contributions of the following volunteers:

Faculty Association ‘Ad Hoc‘ Committees From time to time, different ’ad hoc’ committees are formed to deal with various issues which affect the membership. Committees may be formed to proof-read important documents, prepare materials for displays, organize special events or volunteer in the local labour community. In all cases, the committees report their activities and findings through to Executive Committee and Faculty Association Council.
