Michelina your moving specialist, and will be your contact throughout all aspects of your relocation.

STEP 1
THE ESTIMATE OR IN-HOUSE SURVEY

The estimate or in-house survey is set up with our AMJ Campbell/Atlas Van Lines affiliate in your city of origin. You can expect this survey to take up to an hour of your time. The estimator will ask and answer questions and make notes as he/she walks with you through your home. Be specific about special care items, items to be left behind or those which may be added before the truck arrives.

The accuracy of this information is vital as it will be forwarded to your AMJ moving specialists to form the “needs list” for your service order.

Although you may be able to drive from your origin to your destination location in a day, you will need to, in most cases, allow the moving van more time to get to your new residence in Windsor. We appreciate the fact that you probably are anxious to get your household goods into your new residence as soon as possible and Michelina will do the best he can to make this possible for you.

Please make sure you discuss the transit time guidelines with Michelina in order to make your relocation as pleasant as possible.

STEP 2
PACKING SERVICES

Michelina will let you know how many days are required for packing. When the packing team arrives, your head packer will perform a survey prior to the start of the service. This is to verify pre-move survey information and note your special packing requirements before commencing the job.

During this phase of our service, it is important to highlight to a member of the packing team any items which you want to live with the night before your move. They will leave extra boxes so that the driver can finish packing items which have not yet been packed. You may wish to designate boxes containing essential items as “load last and unload first”.

The packing team is responsible for disassembly and packing of all items such as glass or mirrors and doors and shelves from wall units and cabinets. A set-up carton will be designated by your packing crew and will be used to hold nuts, bolts, screws, shelving pegs, picture hangers and other small hardware items. Your remote control devices will also be placed into this carton unless you choose to take them with you.

Items affixed to the wall must be removed by you before the pack crew arrives. Your packers will ask you to sign or initial an itemized pack sheet when their job is completed.

STEP 3
LOADING THE TRUCK

Your Atlas driver will walk through your home with you to make an assessment of how the furniture should be positioned in the truck. Make your driver aware of any closets or areas which may not be obvious. Each item will then be tagged with a numbered sticker. The item will be recorded by the driver and identified on an inventory sheet (eg. #537 - armchair). When each item of furniture and carton has been listed, the driver will load the van. When completed, you must accompany your driver on a tour of your home to ensure that all relocating items have been loaded. Your driver will ask you to sign the completed inventory.

STEP 4
UNLOADING THE TRUCK

Upon arrival in Windsor, your driver will once again tour your home with you. We suggest that you complete a “bingo sheet”. This is your reassurance that all items have been off- loaded at your new home. If you notice a damaged item, have your driver note this on his paperwork in order to simplify your claim settlement.

You are responsible for initiating the claim with our office and must call Michelina to notify her of the items damaged. Your driver, although he/she made note of the damage, will not be initiating the claim process so it is important that you let Michelina know right away. He will put you in touch with the claims officer in our AMJ Campbell Windsor office.

STEP 5
UNPACKING SERVICES

Any carton we have packed for you will be unpacked in your new home at your request. Individual items will be unwrapped and placed on tables, counter tops and other flat surfaces. All packing material and refuse will be taken away for recycling on unpacking day.

This service usually takes place the next working day after your shipment has been delivered. Please make sure that you have arranged your unpack with Michelina for the day you prefer to have it looked after.

If you have cartons which you do not want unpacked, please check them for possible damage before your unpack team leaves your home.

Please note that AMJ Campbell has an office in Windsor to personally handle your needs at destination, however Michelina in our Mississauga head office remains your point of contact throughout the entire moving process.

PLEASE NOTE:
NON-PROTECTED ITEMS
The following household items are excluded from liability coverage: We strongly recommend that these items be transported by you. If you wish, your moving consultant will provide you with a moving carton for this purpose.

Alcoholic Beverages: We do not recommend shipment of alcoholic beverages on the van due to damage should there be breakage.

DANGEROUS GOODS
Household goods carriers are prohibited by law from transporting the following household items:

Explosives:Ammunition, flares, fireworks, blasting caps, etc.
Gases:Any gas under pressure, propane tanks, oxygen, helium, aerosol cans, butane lighters, etc.
Oxidizers:Bleach, disinfectants, pool chemicals
Corrosives:Hair bleach, chlorine in any form
Poison:Corrosive cleaners, acids, batteries, preservatives, photographic chemicals

Once again, Michelina will be your contact throughout your relocation. Please call her at any time for assistance or reassurance.
