 | The Department of Kinesiology at the University of Windsor invites applications for a full-time Ancillary Academic Staff position at the rank of Learning Specialist (AAS-LS) commencing July 1, 2010. This is a probationary position, within the University of Windsor Faculty Association, leading to permanence. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.
A medium-sized university with a solid reputation in teaching and research, the University of Windsor offers a friendly and supportive environment for both living and learning. Essential Qualifications for this position include a graduate degree in the broad field of Kinesiology. Knowledge of degree requirements, curricula, and career opportunities related to undergraduate degree programs in this field will be required. The incumbent will be responsible for advising and counselling undergraduate Kinesiology students as they progress through the requirements of a four-year Honours degree. The incumbent will become knowledgeable with foreign exchange programs that are currently in place in addition to post-degree opportunities. The incumbent will work closely with the Department Head to identify and intervene with students who are in academic jeopardy. Higher order interpersonal skills are required for this position because of the continual interactions with students, faculty and staff.
General Responsibilities include performing other duties, as assigned by the Department Head of Kinesiology and/or the Dean of Human Kinetics, which lead to the effective counselling, advisement and retention of undergraduate Kinesiology students. The creation and maintenance of a professional atmosphere in all dealings with faculty members, students and university employees are essential. The incumbent may be called upon to perform related outreach activities that help raise the profile of the Department of Kinesiology and the University of Windsor. Limited teaching may be required of the successful candidate in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
