Turning First Rate Universities into Second Rate Companies – The Future of Post-Secondary Education in Canada?

On March 24, 2010 the Centre for Studies in Social Justice presented a talk by James Turk, Executive Director of the Canadian Association of University Teachers entitled  "Turning First Rate Universities into Second Rate Companies – The Future of Post-Secondary Education in Canada?"

Turk provided details on the role governments, both federal and provincial have played in increasing the influence of Corporate Canada on post-secondary education, whether through funding cuts which make university administrators increasingly turn to corporate donors to or through the increasing role of corporations in determining research funding priorities.
