Psychology Participant Pool
Information for Undergraduate Students
Fall 2009

IMPORTANT: In order to register for the Psychology Participant Pool, go to:

PRIOR USERS
Your account has been retained in the upgraded system; however, your password has changed. You should receive an email indicating this password. If you have not, please email psycpool@uwindsor.ca for assistance.

NEW USERS
Access the link above, and select “Request an account here” on the left hand side of the screen. Follow the instructions carefully.

EMAIL ADDRESSES: All participants are required to use their Uwindsor email address. If you participated in the system without using your Uwindsor email address, you will need to contact psycpool@uwindsor.ca, indicating your Uwindsor email address and the email address you previously used. IT Services can help you have your Uwindsor email forwarded to another account, should you wish.


Please remember that every term you must:
(1) register (and re-register) for the Participant Pool each term; if you don't, you won't be able to register for or participate in research studies for bonus credits);
(2) sign up for studies posted on the site (you must take the initiative to do this; do not expect researchers to contact you; you may continue to be occasionally contacted by researchers);
(3) check the site frequently for new studies that you can participate in (new studies will be added throughout the term); and
(4) assign you credits: indicate how you want the bonus credits you have earned to be distributed across the psychology courses you are taking. In the upgraded system, you will assign credits to courses when you sign up for studies, however you can change your credit assignment at any point before the end of the term.
(5) watch your email for announcements from the participant pool, or from researchers
(6) familiarize yourself with the procedures for the pool in the participant manual (accessible on the participant pool website or the psychology website)

Important dates

Mon, Aug 24, 5pm: Deadline to submit screening questions for Fall 2009
[Email question(s) to the psycpool@uwindsor.ca account and leave ethics approval in the mailbox]
Tues, Sept. 1: Participant Registration opens
Wed, Sept. 9: First day of classes; Studies available
Wed, Sept 23: Participant Registration closes at 11:30pm
Wed, Dec 9: Last day of classes; Pool closes, 5pm; assign bonus points ASAP.
Thurs, Dec 10: Credit assignments by participants due by midnight.
Mon, Dec 14: Credit lists emailed to instructors.

These dates are updated every semester on the Participant Pool website.

If you have any difficulty registering for the pool, signing up for studies, assigning earned credits to courses, or interacting with researchers, please email the Participant Pool assistants (psycpool@uwindsor.ca).

If you have questions about a specific study, please contact the researcher for that study (which can be found by logging into the system and looking at the study)
