Research Interest:
Research Interests and Current Projects:
  • Spectroscopy of Excimer Molecules and Clusters: High and medium resolution spectroscopy of excimers and clusters including Hg2, Hg3, and
    Hg + Rare Gases.
Time-of-flight mass analysis is combined with ionisation and conventional fluorescence and absorption spectroscopy.
  • Lifetimes of Atoms and Molecules: Experimental measurements of the lifetimes of selected levels of atoms and molecules. Past work has studied the alkalis, Hg, Pb, and Hg2.
  • Collisional cross-sections of atoms and molecules: Experimental cross-sections for mixing of the fine-structure states of the alkalis have been made. More recent work has measured the cross-sections for the formation of excimers in their excited states by collisions between excited and ground state atoms.
