SEX ON TRIAL - The Constitutional Challenge of Canada's Prostitution Laws

Valerie Scott, Amy Lebovitch and Terri-Jean Bedford initiated a constitutional challenge claiming their right to security of the person is violated by the Criminal Code provisions related to bawdy houses, communication for the purposes of prostitution, and living off the avails of prostitution.
Final arguments to the Ontario Superior Court were completed on October 26, 2009 and it is expected that a ruling will be announced in the spring of 2010. On February 8, the issue will come to life in the Moot Court as several key players behind the challenge assemble to discuss the challenge, their experiences and ongoing work as activists in Canada.
