A Short Explanation about Case Cites
Legal casebooks and textbooks will have footnote references to cases, such as this :
Kimble v. Ford Motor Co. of Canada , (1991) 49 L.A.C. (4th) 319.

Explanation of this citation:

(1991) - year of decision
49 - volume number of
4th series
(4th) - this refers to the 4th series.
319 - page number where case begins.
LAC - the cite - look up the cite and find the full title in this list.

When you go into the law library with the floor and call number from this list,
remember to first look for the
series, and then the volume number on the volume's spine.
There will be a vol. 49 (1st series), a vol. 49 (2d series), a vol. 49 (3d series), etc.

Thus:
Labour arbitration cases (cited as LAC) XC 3310 .A219 L3 on GD Flr

Description: 1st series, vol. 1 (1948) - vol. 24 (1972) covers 1948 to 1972;

3d series, vol. 1 (1982) - vol. 35 (1989) covers 1982 to 1989;
