University of Windsor
Welcome!
The University of Windsor Philosophy Department is recognized for excellence in teaching and research. Philosophy has a variety of programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. We have a small, friendly department providing ample opportunity for student-teacher interaction; the student-run philosophy club provides ample opportunity for students to interact with one another. Philosophy's visiting speakers series brings faculty, students, and the general public together with members of the broader philosophical community.

What is Philosophy?
Philosophy is critical and creative thinking about fundamental questions, such as: What is worthwhile in life? Is there sense to the universe? What moral obligations do people have to one another? What makes societies just? What can we know? Windsor's Philosophy Department offers courses in which these and many other philosophical questions are explored.
Why Study Philosophy?
The main reason to study philosophy is for its own sake. Philosophy enables us to reflect on questions about who we are and how we should live. It is also worth noting that many who have studied philosophy have gone on to succeed in a variety of areas. Studying philosophy provides students with advanced reading, writing, and critical skills that open many doors. Check out some of the famous people who started off by studying philosophy. While you are at it, why not check out some of the areas in which our graduates work.
